Welcome to Takona Soapery!

Natural. Simple. Honest. Pure. Responsible. And simply – good. These words give us direction in running our business and we strive to express them in our quality of product and design. We hope it gives you confidence to know that hours of research are put into developing our recipes and each product is made in small, handmade batches to ensure quality. At Takona Soapery, all of the soaps and products are made with natural and environmentally-sustainable sources, so you can buy with a clear conscience knowing nothing was harmed or will-be harmed by making or using the soaps. (Read about our ingredients on our soap page.) We hope you are able to find a product that you like, but if not, we gladly take suggestions! We are very happy to have you visit the website and thank you for your interest in our products!

Jay & Takona Kolbe
Takona Soapery was founded in June of 2016 in the small town of Flatonia, Texas by Jay and Takona Kolbe. Both graduates of Texas A&M University, Jay and Takona knew early on that they eventually wanted to start their own business. Takona started making soap as a hobby in January of 2016, but fell in love with the science and chemistry of the soap-making process. They started a new chapter in life when they moved back to Takona’s home town in the summer of ’16 and started selling Takona’s soap as a temporary source of income. Week after week, they attended farmers markets and various seasonal markets, trying to grow the business. They started with soaps and oils, but have expanded their product list to include a variety of body care products and candles. The products at Takona Soapery are designed to be as simple, yet functional as possible, from sourcing ingredients to designing labels. Takona’s vision is to create no-nonsense products that are safe, responsible, simple, and gender neutral, so that everyone could enjoy them. Although unexpected, Jay and Takona are grateful for the success they have experienced so far with Takona Soapery and take it one day at a time while constantly seeking the Lord’s guidance and direction for the business. Today, they live outside Flatonia, Texas with their cows and two dogs, Basil and Tilden, and are excited to see where God will take them!
